So it’s been some time since I have posted, and I really appreciate those who have checked back since April 23rd (my last post) to see if I’m still alive. From the Instagram feed, hopefully you’ve noticed that yes, I am in fact still living, but have had other things going on. Late May we bid farewell to our furry friend, Ryder, and that farewell has taken some time to get used to (I won’t get into details as I will be sobbing at the computer). As well, school was boiling over. The fact is that I have no valid excuse for not posting; however, I will state that this has been one of the busiest school years, and maybe just busiest Springs, I have ever had. I have been teaching for almost 10 years and I honestly can’t remember a year where I was run off my feet more than this year. I felt like the school treadmill never stopped. I’m glad I was able to finally hop off this machine and am now blissfully on vacation. I am going to take the next two months to work on my summer goals. I have actually never thought about summer goal planning, but realized that if I want to make the most of my time off (which I most certainly do) I am going to have to make a list of things that I want to accomplish.
#1 – Spend quality time with Mia. I’m already failing a little on this one, as she is outside enjoying the sunshine and I’m inside typing away, but I figure her dad needs some quality time with her during the weekends as I selfishly get every weekday with her.
#2 – Blog. It’s simple, I want to blog at least twice a week and actually make this a go. I have had some success so far with visits to the site etc, but I really enjoy blogging and so, if not for anyone else but me, this is my goal.
#3 – Read. At least one adult book, oh and I should say, finish it. I read my fair share of books on a daily basis, but I don’t want to count Robert Munsch as summer reading. So the hunt for a great book is on and if you have suggestions I’d love to hear from you.
#4 – Paint and finish some projects around the house. With an older home even though we renovated just two short years ago we are now at the point where we need to repaint the entry-way, paint our planter boxes in the front, and complete some tile work. This on top of some redecorating and reorganizing.
#5 – Enjoy the sun! I don’t usually like the sun given that we are not the best of friends, and I typically like it’s archenemy the shade far more. This year, I want to really enjoy the weather (when it’s good) and sit out and enjoy the sunshine, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.
#6 – Get away. We are planning some day trips, some week longs trips and a trip with just my husband and I. I couldn’t be more excited about what we have planned for the summer and we really aren’t doing anything too big, it’s just nice to have the summer off and to go away a couple of times.
These are 6 things that I hope to accomplish from this point to August 21st. I do have one more goal, but we are not quite at a point where we want to share with everyone what’s happening. I’ll fill you in when the time is right. I’m hopeful that I succeed in accomplishing what I have set out for me. The 6 goals aren’t too lofty, they are realistic and they really are about time spent on me (doesn’t happen that often) and time spent with my family, which is really what summer and vacation is all about, isn’t it?
